"The importance of Flag-raising ceremony: A reminder of patriotism and respect for the country"

Here we go again—a good Monday to all of us. Let us start our day with the Monday flag-raising ceremony, held every first day of the week. Who else hates Mondays? What do we usually grumble about on Monday? “Mahabang tayuan at pep talk na naman eto." However, do we realize the importance of the flag-raising ceremony? Let us find out.

Filipinos are among the most patriotic people in the world. Pledge to the flag and singing the national anthem is a simple gesture and manifestation of every Filipino's love of country. The purpose of this ceremony is to honor the flag. It is a way of showing love and respect for one's country. The flag is raised in strict compliance with Section 21 of RA 8491, which states that during the flag-raising ceremony, the assembly shall stand in formation facing the flag.

The flag ceremony should be given utmost importance, for it reflects our love for our country and is one of the ways to value the sacrifices of the people who died protecting and defending our country. It honors the symbol of our country, all the hopes, dreams, and the people it represents. We encourage everyone to come early every Monday morning to attend the Flag raising ceremony and to be present during the flag retreat every Friday afternoon.

It is a way of expressing gratitude for the freedom we enjoy and remembering the greatness and sacrifices of those who sacrificed their lives by showing respect to our National flag. Let us join these ceremonies not because we are required to do so but because we are proud of the people who fought for our freedom. To show our love of country, we do not just stand at the formation; we will sing the National Anthem and recite the pledge to the flag by heart as role models.

The flag-raising ceremony is a way of showing respect and love for one's country. As a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), it is vital to understand this ceremony's importance and show respect for the flag. Understanding this ceremony's importance and participating in it with respect and dignity is crucial. Doing so demonstrates our commitment to serving our country and upholding its values.
