"The importance of courtesy calls: Lessons in respect, discipline, and communication"

A courtesy call is a good tradition observed and practiced by the cadets from those days up to the present. It shows respect to a command unit in our locality and an upperclassman assigned to a particular area. It will help us build our bonds and strengthen our camaraderie as brothers and sisters in public service.

This day, we rendered a courtesy call to PBGen Neil B Alinsañgan, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9. The staff and the Regional Director himself accommodated us. When we arrived at the area, everything was ready. Each one of us has given a chance to speak individually in front of the officers. We introduced ourselves and explained to them our purpose.

The Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9 admitted that upon his graduation from Philippine Military Academy, he also needed to learn more about the reality of police work. We are so blessed to have PMGen Eric E Noble as our Director, who always thinks about our welfare and guides us on the right path to becoming flexible, effective, and efficient leaders while pushing our limits to seek room for improvement in ourselves.

During the program, it motivates us to see them wearing their snappy uniforms and makes us feel proud and thankful that we will be part of this Lakan community a few months from now, where there are strong bonds, and we think that we have a family that we can lean on when we need help. Officials from Regional Office 9 also served us and promised us their support in any term, but we listened to their advice.

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to be with this group of officers. We are so thankful for their warm welcome and encouragement.

The courtesy call has taught me many lessons that I can apply in my life as a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

First, it taught me the importance of respect. Respect is a fundamental value that should be observed in any organization, especially in the military.

Second, it taught me the importance of discipline. Discipline is essential in any organization, especially in the military. Discipline is not only about following orders and regulations but also about having the right attitude and behavior. Discipline is also about being punctual and following the chain of command.

Lastly, it taught me the importance of communication. Communication is essential in any organization, especially in our chosen profession.
